Five Key Plays: Colgate 83, American 69

American lost at Colgate on Jan. 27, dropping the Eagles to 5-16, 2-8 in the Patriot League. The result completed Colgate's first ever sweep of AU. Here are five key plays/sequences from the game.

1. Sam Iorio starts hot for American
Sam Iorio started perfectly for American, making his first six shot attempts. Most impressively, the freshmen showed his versatility scoring on post-ups, on a cut, on a 3, and on a long 2 after letting a screen slide off.

2. Colgate shoots 7-12 from 3 in first half
American had to know coming in that nobody in the Patriot League shoots more 3s than Colgate, but the Eagles defense didn't do a very good job of chasing the Raiders off the 3-point line as Colgate made seven of 12 from deep in the first half.

3. Rayman tears American apart in first half
Colgate's Will Rayman had his way in the first half as the Raiders blew open a close game to take a 43-29 halftime lead. Rayman scored 20 points on 8-for-10 shooting in the half.

4. Sa'eed Nelson brings American back
Sa'eed Nelson was terrific for the Eagles, doing all he could to bring them back in the second half. The sophomore finished 9-for-13 from the field on mostly difficult finishes in the paint for 24 points to go with three steals. He got AU within three on a couple occasions in the second half.

5. Late turnovers will Burn(s) you
After American got back within three at 63-60, sloppy turnovers and Jordan Burns' penetration doomed the Eagles -- the same ingredients to Colgate's earlier win at American. Colgate's 8-0 run was the difference.
